Trans issue

I have swaped out my trans for a Legacy's trans. One issue I have is a clicking sound from the rear of the engine ( like a card in the spokes of a bike). I brought the car to a trans shop and they checked it out and said it's not a trans issue. My personal mechanic says it's the flex plate. Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Re: Trans issue

if you get small cracks around the bolt holes on the flex plate then it can make a clicking noise, or your inspection cover could be bent and touching the flexplate. take off the cover at the bottom of where the engine and trans meet, if it still makes noise try and see if there are small cracks around the bolt holes or around the ring gear on your flexplate

There's supposed to be a cover there? Wow none of mine have ever had that. I thought it was weird that it was just open like that. Anyone got a part number for it?

Re: Trans issue

Really sounds like the flexplate to me, too.

Re: Trans issue

My mechanic borrowed one of those probe cameras. He was able to sneak it in and saw cracks all around the flexplate bolts. Time to replace again. Thanks guys!
