Troubleshooting '07 Kia Sedona CEL
My daughter drives a 2007 Kia Sedona with about 100,000 miles on the odometer. Recently she's been getting an intermittent "check engine" light and having some problems with starting. In one instance early this week it took several minutes of cranking to start. She also said sometimes when it starts the engine won'r rev properly, regardless of throttle position. Once it gets over its grumpy spell, all is good.
The dealership tech where she bought this thing (new) shrugged and gave her the timeworn, "we can't diagnose the problem unless it acts up while we have it" business. Does this vehicle not store codes? Thanks in advance. dcb |

Re: Troubleshooting '07 Kia Sedona CEL
I'm sure it does, and the tech sounds like a lazy ass.
Have her take it to an Autozone or Advance Auto. They both read codes for free. Have her get the codes and get back to you.

Re: Troubleshooting '07 Kia Sedona CEL
Regardless if the CEL is off, the ECU stores memory codes that should still be present.

Re: Troubleshooting '07 Kia Sedona CEL
The challenge will now be making her take the time to take the thing to Advance. Think it took months for her to get it to the Kia dealership.
Thanks again. dcb |
