I bought the Popes numberplate!

I was reading an old magazine the a couple of weeks ago and it made mention of what the Popes number plate was.....................

............"I wonder?" I thought so I checked the personal plates site ( www.plates.co.nz ) and, lo and behold, it was unissued and available, and because it is standard format (three letters and a number) it was 25% cheaper than other personalised numberplates.

So I did some research, to make sure what I had read was accurate.
And sure enough....................

http://www.google.co.nz/images?hl=en...=&oq=&gs_rfai=

Apparently in the same way that whatever aircraft that the US President flies in is 'Air Force One', whatever car that the pope is travelling in carries this number plate and has done so since 1930.

I thought about it for a week or so and decided that having it on the SVX would be kind of funny in a ridiculous sort of way. The fact that my 16y.o daughter (who loves the SVX 'cause "it's not boring like all the other cars") can see the funny side too sort of clinched the deal.

So I now own...................

Despite trying, no one at work will call me "your holiness" or even "your eminence" let alone kiss my ring.

Surprisingly, today someone made a substantial offer for the plate and I have not even had them manufactured yet.

Re: I bought the Popes numberplate!

I'm just trying to figure out whether or not I can get into the car wearing a mitre.

Re: I bought the Popes numberplate!

That plate/registration would cost thousands of pounds, here in the UK. I have #6@ MAL on my other car (Audi) it's worth about £4-5 thousand

This letting them kiss your ring is not all it's cracked up to be Marcus.

You could fall over and hurt your head.

Joe

Re: I bought the Popes numberplate!

When they asked Pope John Paul II what the best thing was about being the Pope, he supposedly replied:

"Now I don't have to peel my own M&M's any more"
