Taillight, plug & play?

Four months after winning a taillight on ebay it arrived yesterday. Will this thing just plug right in or do I need to modify the wiring? It's too cold and dark for me to look.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

The bulb housings from your old one should just twist right in, or if it came with the harness included, plug right in.

It came with the harness. When the brake is depressed the backup lights won't come on? right.

Cost of shipping. It is cheaper to use a container once a year.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

Pictures, please when you have it installed. I really like the look of the rear fogs! You will need to do some additional wiring most likely, in order to utilize them. At the least, you should try to obtain the OEM switch for the rear fogs which is in the black switch cluster on the right side of the instrument cluster.

Cool Re: Taillight, plug & play?

looks like my old one (which got broken by ??? another story) - if it is then the area inboard of the white reversing lights are just reflectors (no wiring or bulbs) - which country did you get it from ???

Got a new one from USA - reflector & reversing area swapped - also now the reflector in USA is another stop light....it was plug & play for me.

This has all been discussed before - search for rear light variations.

see my recent posting for "rear side markers" in NZ they are just reflectors - but the ones from USA that I recently purchased have bulbs fitted, still looking for the mating connector & little piece of wiring so that I can splice it into the existing loom.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

Surteess, the light is from a German model. The two lights inward from the clear backup lights are I believe fog lamps like Mike621 said. I'm not sure about hooking up the fogs yet. I prefer the look of having the backup lights further apart, the old girl doesn't get into much fog I may just use them opposite US OEM.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

I had one of these on my previous svx. You will need to wire in the fog lights. I ran them off of my front fog lights so they would come on with them. Everything else will operate properly.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

Finally got it in today, the rings around the fog lamps look really nice. I just have to charge my battery to see if they work. Really busy lately.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

People must really be puzzled when they see your svx for the first time, think it's something new, then see classic car plates.

Re: Taillight, plug & play?

I did a few changes to mine,my UK car comes with two rear red fog lights(fitted with 21w bulbs) I removed these bulbs, replaced them with 5w bulbs, rewired them into the side light circuit, then I fitted a red 21w bulb into the offside reversing light housing, and rewired that back into the original fog light circuit.(you with me?) so I now have 4 rear red side lights,2 red brake lights, one white reversing light and one red rear fog light Also I purchased (thanks Nate) 2 rear/side side marker lights/lenses,fitted these with 5w bulbs and wired thse into the side light circuit.Led number plate bulbs finish it off nicely.
