Yes, Pete Brock designer of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe that blew away the competition in 1964. Not the late Peter Brock, Australia's famous race car driver... who died in a Cobra Coupe recreation... a little confusing!

Re: SVX Magazine Sighting
I'm trying to do my part. To make the car mechanically what it should have been. (in truth, paying YT to make the car mechanically what it should have been). No changes to the exterior, except for the 97 grille, original configuration fiberglass hood and HID headlamps. Hopefully, a very high quality respray, original color, and an interior detailing, by Reading. And, no window tint; that beautiful greenhouse wants to be clear.

I've always been an advocate for the SVX and will continue to do so, I'm just tired of seeing how they are treated. Maybe when someone with the design pet. as Brock has speaks (which was shocking to me that it made his cut) others will listen.

I just got my copy in the mail today, I'll try to scan and post it when I get a chance to. It's nice to see such a positive mention of our cars.

Re: SVX Magazine Sighting
The SVX is in a peculiar position right now. Its design excellence is only just beginning to be recognized in the wide community, and yet a number of distressed examples still exist in the marketplace. These poor cars are at the end of their useful lives with 150,000+ miles, may have been ignored or mistreated for half of that lifetime and thus give poor service, requiring much maintenance expense and are soon to be parted out.
So, the SVX population is diverse, some in great shape and someday to be collectors' items, and others at the bottom of the food chain. Many of the people who buy these distressed properties would be better off buying a 97 Toyota Corolla with 105,000 mies for the same dollar. They would get a car that, while it didn't look cool, would give them reliable service for another 100,000 miles. This forum well serves this diverse population. Those like YT, OT, Nevin, Benebob and others who have experience with dealing with the numerous potential failings of older SVX's can help those who are just trying to keep this daily driver driving. While those of us for whom the SVX is a hobby can also enjoy the benefits of their expertise. I believe that there will come a day when the SVX is only a hobby car. The mistreated survivor cars will have fallen out of he population. Not that this will mean a resale bonanza, but that interest will be focused on enjoying them, rather than on just keeping them running until the end of the week.

Re: SVX Magazine Sighting
I believe that the 'hobby' era, second car era, is already here. Mechanics speak about working on the SVXes, before they all disappeared.
I've had several guys drive up on my door with a thumbs up, when I'm driving the Pearl with Gold STI wheels, recently a guy in a blue STI, another in one of the top-market Saturns. Most of us have had similar experiences, often, "what is that?'. I rarely saw other SVXes in the 90's, after I bought mine new in 92, even driving in Reno, and over the pass to California for three years. Agreed, this is a great community, many happily sharing and helping all us keep our cars running, those that do drive everyday and those that don't. Last week the MAF sensor failed in my original owner Claret, exhibiting exactly the signs mentioned in the HOW TO DOCUMENT. Swapping a sensor from another car confirmed it. Jon, now 19, an electical engineering student has had classes in circuits, he will re-solder the failed sensor. Without all of you, it would not be possible to keep these cars on the road. I'm grateful to and for all of you here, all of you from around the globe , My three young sons and I would not have rescued and repaired the SVXes that we enjoy so much today, without each of you. THANK YOU!!

Picked up a copy of Classic Motorsports at Border's.
Pictured yellow SVX is in great company, with Jag E-Type, Gull-wing Mercedes, etc.

Re: SVX Magazine Sighting
I had no trouble finding a copy at my local Barnes and Noble. Excellent write-up on the SVX. This is the first article I've read in recent years that actually has its facts straight. Bravo!

Re: SVX Magazine Sighting
Mike check a Borders. At least the lancaster borders has it so I can only assume that all their boxes have it. Brock is no idiot otherwise I wouldn't have bothered posting it. Plus it is probably one of the better us car mags out there today. Not as good as when it was only Brit cars and bikes but still I can respect everything that is made in Europe except for those crappy german static pos machines.

SVX in Magazine
In The March 2010 issue of Classic Motorsports magazine, there is an article by Peter Brock entitled "Icons of Design-21 Revolutionary Automobiles That Shaped Our Modern World." Our favorite car (SVX) is in there on page 57. The short article about the SVX is accompanied by a photo of an all lemon yellow SVX (sorry Randy). The article starts with the fact that FHI is reported to have lost $75 million on the SVX, but sings praises for the car and states that a new owner will "find worldwide kinship in a bunch of loyal enthusiastic owners (they mean us, and must have spoken to Earl).
I'll bring a copy of this magazine to Reading XI.
