Honestly guys, we drive a 3600 lbs car and your complaining that a large piece of tape is going to add weight? The SVX ain't no Lotus, I doubt anyone would feel any difference

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl Instead of Black Top/Trunk

kinda ricey imo, but who am I to say.

for $65 a square foot I would by REAL carbon fiber at a tenth of that price and take the time and actually wrap it in it. It would look nicer, and it would last a lot longer... it still would weigh more though

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl Instead of Black Top/Trunk

Ok here is the update:

Bought this stuff from the greatest ebay seller ever. Here he is.

I received the material and I was really really impressed. Never thought that it would feel like this, as if it was real dry carbon fiber texture. It is thick, you can literally feel the quality of it with your fingers, simply one of my best buys ever.

The seller, Mark Selvaggio, is an excellent guy based in Germany. During our communication before the purchase, he would simply reply to me within 10 mins, whatever time it was.

Here are some rough pictures taken with my cell camera:

And he was so sweet to send me some sweets along

And NO this will not be installed in the SVX, rather it will cover the top of the 350z and below the front bumper grille. I already have the mirror CF covers for it.

A guy in the U.S. is selling it via eBay, only problem being he's only offering it in 12" x 48" pieces

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl Instead of Black Top/Trunk

Check with the German seller... he can do whatever size you want. Note that you need to specify either Black or Anthrathide or Silver or....

I ordered the black one.

Will work in some areas but not work in other. For example the edges of the shifter trim.... the hump on the ashtray door (smooth it with sanding maybe?)

Furthermore I don't feel it would look nice in an SVX.

Me either, I'm looking for something to do with mine too, that wood grain is so out of date. I'm thinking of a very, very high gloss black, wet sanded and buffed until it could be used as a mirror.

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl Instead of Black Top/Trunk

Nope... Black and SVX grey leather do not look good together.

If I were you I would try to find a paint which color matches the "velour" suede which is on the dash and doors. I think this is the only way to paint the faux wood in a black/claret/green car.

Painting silver in a silver SVX or pearl white in a white SVX would work though

Re: Carbon Fibre Vinyl Instead of Black Top/Trunk

I could always use one of the colors I am using on the outside, House of Kolor Orion Silver and Galaxy Gray, but I don't think that much metal flake would look that good on the interior.

I might end up recovering the suede stuff at some point too.
