Identify these wheels please!

Does anyone know who makes these wheels? They are definitely my favorites on a SVX thus far, and would love them to compliment mine.

Re: Identify these wheels please!

I believe they were used only on JDM SVX and I think were only on the top of the line models there.

Are you possibly thinking of these wheels and not the ones on the green car? Or where there TWO mesh styles offered for the SVX?

Re: Identify these wheels please!

The wheels shown in the first post were never offered on the SVX from the factory. I believe they would have been had production continued to the 1998 model year.

The wheels shown in the second post were available on later model svxs in Japan.

I believe that the first wheels are a certain style made by BBS.

Not sure about the first pic, but the second are the same as 2nd gen rx7 turbo II BBS wheels.

Re: Identify these wheels please!

The mesh wheels above look like BBS RC or older RX-like design or something... a bit older than current offerings, but still cool.

I wonder if there is a fitment of the Japanese-made RG-F in 16" diameter 5-bolt that would fit like OEM 16s... They are forged, and supposedly quite light. I wish I could afford a 4-bolt set for my Miata.

I've long thought the CO, the cast version of the CH (like Challenge, as in Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, which wore a very similar designed BBS wheel.) might look good on SVX. They also come in less huge sizes compared to the CH wheel. CO comes in 16, 17, and 18" fitments. CK also looks similar.

I really wish the CX-R came in less than 19" fitments... 17, or 18 would be about perfect. Imagine how this would look on a black-roof SVX, especially a pearlie, or silver...

those almost look like Lorinser wheels... which usually only fit Mercedes Benz, unless there is a Benz that has 5x114 wheels...

They look very similar to the ones on the Tesla Model S concept. I remain unconvinced of battery power for electric drive vehicles. (batteries seem far too limited and compromised for practical automotive uses...) but the styling on the Model S is pretty good, aside from the odd oval grille.

And if those wheels were available as 18x8, 5x114.3, high offset, they would look pretty cool on SVX. I don't think they are, though... I am not sure how they fit the 350Z that SilverSpear posted... unless hub-pattern adapters were used.

The one-piece is called RS8, 20-21 inch diameter.

The two-piece is LM6, which is what SilverSpear's attachment picture seems to show, and are 19-20 inches in diameter.

There may be knock-offs of that design, but I am unaware of them... I am also unsure if SLK or other MB cars offer a 5x114.3 bolt pattern, like many cars, including SVX, Tribeca, and 05+ STI have. I though most of them had 5x112, making MB wheel fitments somewhat unique, like BMW sometimes using 5x120, Porsche using 5x130, and Audi using 5x110, like other Subarus and some VWs, although Audi and VW using closer to 35mm offset, which is too low an offset for most Subarus, regardless of bolt pattern.

Re: Identify these wheels please!

Last time I was on vacation back home, went to a wheels shop near our house. The owner is a good friend of mine, but he deals with Italian, Chinese and Thai rims. I saw a Thai exactly same as the RS8, and it was a 5 X 114. I wasn't interested in that rim since it was heavy and... Thai. I wanted the real deal for my car.

The Z and the SVX share the same wheel pattern... And since the Lorinser is fitted on the Z, then they should have that pattern...

P.S: Boxer, I thought I saw something in your reply I was going to reply to it, but you edited it. It is related to the battery powered car... This should convince you bro:

The three ways I see that even being possible, are either:
114->112 adapters on that Z.
Those being Thai knockoffs of LM6.
There being a 5x114 fitment for some sort of MB model that I don't know of. I didn't find a 114 MB fitment on a search, but that isn't entirely comprehensive.

I saw a blurb about that... and the nano-porous battery substrate that was just invented at MIT... As far as I know, the battery tech isn't ready for market yet, and the Lightning GT sports car is still vaporware, as well.

What they don't mention is how many hundreds of pounds of lithium-based batteries that would take for a 250 mile range, while also supporting the discharge rate to supply current for 700hp worth of electric motors.
That is a LOT of current.
That is a LOT of current to re-charge in 10 minutes from the power grid.
That is a LOT of current to hold onboard, and risk spark or short-circuit.
That is a LOT of highly reactive lithium onboard a 700hp projectile.
That is a LOT of risk that an accident will create a lithium-fueled inferno if those batteries ever breach, and are exposed to oxygen in the air.

As I said, I remain unconvinced.

Re: Identify these wheels please!

Contacting BBS gave me the model I was looking for. BBS RG from the 90's. I am now going to search high and low for a set of them or the newer BBS RG-II.
