Assembly Lube Question
What kind of assembly lube does everyone use for installing seals? I've seen two kinds, one that looks more like a heavy grease and one that looks more like a liquid.
What's the difference, and what are the correct applications for each? Thanks! Oh, and another question so I don't start YET ANOTHER thread, What is the correct type of torch to use to heat up things on cars? Mapp, propane, etc...??

Re: Assembly Lube Question
I believe LAN and YT have the most experience when it comes to the EG33.

Re: Assembly Lube Question
OOpS, my bad. I missed the seals part.
just like tom sez, oil. but for engine assy, i'm sold on the permatex assy lube. red and kinda gooey. comp cams also has good lube. the correct amount is enuff to coat everything. slather the stuff on. it ain't gonna hurt. just make sure your work area is CLEAN. this stuff picks up dirt and ya don't want dirt. plus latex gloves are kinda key. Mapp is hotter than propane so it's better use PB blaster before torching, it'll help.

Re: Assembly Lube Question
Engine oil. Best way to install the seals. Assembly lube is mostly used to assemble bearings and such for initial start up when oil needs to make its way into all the bearings and you don't want to tear up your brand new bearings by letting them run dry.
