Oiling for turbo?

Sorry if this question was already answered and Im too dumb to find it. I already have the oil filter block adaptor. I need to know exacly what I need and where to get it, for the fitings and the line. And where should I route the return line, I heard a bunch of different places but what do you guys think is the best?

It depends on where you want to mount the turbo. If you put it in the "normal subaru turbo location" there is an oil plug on the back of the block that you can insert a fitting on to drain the turbo. If you go lower with the turbo you can always go back to the pan.

Remember, it is always better to return the oil to the pan. Dumping turbocharged oil somewhere else is never a good idea, especially after a bearing failure.

Here is my feed and return system

Why is that? Did you mean a main bearing failure or a turbo bearing failure? The oil comes off of the filter to the turbo, then to the block. I agree that I am adding some additional heat to that particular part of the block, and I could be causing some local heat problems. Or if I had a turbo bearing failure of some sort that could cause a problem, but I'm not sure that is real common. Am I missing something? I don't like running lots of oil lines around the engine. It's one more thing that could fail. I'm sure it works great though.

you don't need the oil block adapter (yes first at first i used an oil block adapter) you can get good oil for the oil pressure sending unit right behind the alternator just T it off of there. and i think putting the oil in to the oil pan is the best idea. my 2 cents

i don't know are we? i am saying that you don't need to get oil from the filter. that you can just get it off of the oil pressure sending unit on the block right behind the alternator.

Either way works, I did it the way I did it for sake of ease.

Sending Oil to the block after it has been to the turbo can cause problems, especially if you have a bearing fail(as in the impeller/turbine shaft bearing), you would be returning that sludged/possibly metal flake filled oil back into the block.

99% of turbocharger failures are due to failed thrust bearings.

I need to check that out.

It also seems possible to get oil right from the pump. There are two plugs on the bottom of the oil pump. I don't know how easy it would be to install a fitting and snake pipe in that area.

Good food for thought.
