Is Silla Radiator still the preferred replacement?
Well after 3 years the Marine Epoxy I used to repair the broken plastic neck on the radiator is starting to allow the coolant to seep. Other than spending the $300 (discounted price) for the OEM radiator is Silla still a good alternative. Second question- Struts on the car have 129,000 miles on them, has anyone experienced an Exceptionaly Hard ride going over ruts or alot of intermitant steering wheel shimmy during hard braking. Tires, wheels, rotors, and pads have been replaced and the struts feel good if u do a bounce test.

I just replaced the struts @ 133k. Aside from when I went over bumps or drove on a crappy road, it was hard to tell they were bad since a smooth road gave me a smooth ride. When I drove over bumpy roads, the ride was hard and I would hear a kind of clattering. Overall I could just REALLY feel/hear the road. I did the bounce test but as long as your springs are okay I don't see how it could fail. According to the bounce test, my struts were okay but that was not true. From my observations, if your car rides really low (assuming OEM wheels/suspension like mine) so that your tires are hidden by the wheel wells - your struts are gone. Now with new struts and springs there is almost an inch or so clearance between the top of my front wheel and the rim of the wheel well. What a difference.

I've had a Silla in since late Febuary. No problems. It's about as sturdy as the
OEM radiator. Perfectly viable solution. |

Thanks for the response on the Silla radiator. I contacted Silla directly and the only one they have is in CA and they wont ship to NY. I did find one in NJ that i need to order. Timing belt was changed 56,000miles ago at 73,000 when the water pump seized causing all the pulleys to be replaced and the belt tearing up the covers. Was about a $1,800 repair bill.

eBay radiator
I too am looking for a new radiator for my sons '92 SVX.
He just bought it from on ebay. Opinions are welcome... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9507&rd=1&rd=1 The only thing that needs attention very soon is the radiator/fan assy. The p.o. had put a different radiator in it and I need to know what exactly I need for a correct replacement. The current radiator has upper posts that don't line up with core support so the one bracket that is there is jury rigged and NOT pretty, and the upper neck is on the far right, not the correct center location. In addition to that, the shroud has two fans, one of which is bent and vibrates badly. The radiator does a great job of keeping the motor cool so the fans don't run very often. For some reason unplugging the bad fan stops both of them, go figure.. Anyway as the car runs great, and the radiator keeps the motor nice and cool I figured it was something we could fix easily in the future. We would probabily drive as is until the radiator failed or we stumbled upon a replacement. However summer is nigh and I think we should get this corrected now. Here's my question, What is the correct radiator and fan shroud for a '92? Single fan or dual fan? It appears the current dual fan shroud in the car belongs to the current radiator, so if I buy a correct replacement radiator, I want to get the correct radiator and shroud for it. What do you think of this, is this the silla your talking about? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RADIA...11598863QQrdZ1 Sorry for the long post, but I want to do it right. Thanks! Terry |

Re: Is Silla Radiator still the preferred replacement?
I checked the feedback on radiator purchases and good reports on several different cars. I would guess it is china but not sure haven't seen that particular company on ebay with radiators. feedback looks like 1 bad for the last 200 customers. I replaced mine a couple of years with oem but these deals were not available then. I would probably try this one if I needed one now.

Re: Is Silla Radiator still the preferred replacement?
It cracked again. They are cheap Chinese radiators. again I bought one thinking it would be fine which it might for someone else just end up cracking again on me.

Re: Is Silla Radiator still the preferred replacement?
I had 2 silla's in the last year or so. The first one failed after 6 months due to a sticking thermostat. I'm currently on the 2nd one as I bought it from Radiators US on ebay and they have a lifetime warranty on the radiators, although they weren't too great to deal with because it took me almost 30 days to get my radiator back and my credit card refunded.
