Arrow Remanufactured Transaxle

I got a subaru dealer to give me a print out of the vehicle claim history report. I noticed one expensive repair.

It says remanufactured transaxle R&R 3AT /4EAT / ECVT $2,110.94

What exactly is the transaxle?

From that price, they must have replaced the whole darn transmission.

Arrow transaxle

Yeah, I dont really know what they mean when they say transaxle, but your right for that price maybe it was a tranny swap.

The car has 235k miles on it and runs pretty darn good. I bought it at about 220k and have had only minor problems with it. If it turns out to be a newer tranny it will restore my faith in the car taking long road trips.

'Transaxle' and 'Transmission' are the same thing, though technically a transaxle is a transmission/differential combined assembly as found on a front wheel drive or AWD car only.

usually you would consider an automatic with a transaxle and a manual a transmission.
but not all auto's have a transaxle.
