Arrow repairs = $2500 = check engine light still on...

Ok so I luv my SVX and have invested alot into the car since last year, but a few weeks ago I take the car in because the check engine light goes on and off-depends on the day, normal from what I seem to read around here.
We replace both BROKEN motor mounts (Very pricey), knock sensor, new struts, motorsport warehouse springs, polyurethane front bushings, valve cover gaskets, 2 wheel bearings, new plugs and wires, o2 sensor, optima battery and the list goes on.........

$3000.00 in repairs later and the check engine light still goes on and off!!!

The shop is a Subaru specialist so they do GREAT work and I trust them.

So I was thinking because you can feel alot of heat from under the door area sometimes that maybe I have clogged/plugged cats and that is causing the problem, if you get on the highway and use the power mode and really drive it it seems to go off after a a few good trips thru the gears, any help or suggestions would be great -jst got back from vacation so can't afford to put the car back in the shop for a while!!!!

I could feel that heat really pronounced in the 94 FWD. But it wasn't the Cats, it was the Transmission. That puppy can dissipate some heat!

But..... The check engine light (CEL) has nothing to do with the Tranny. It does it's troublecodes through the power light.

It's definitely storing a trouble code.

Go here: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?How-To|14263
And download the trouble code list and the "how to read troublecodes". That would be a great start. It may be something simple.

Or.... Sell it to me for a thousand.

Could be that it was a knock sensor issue or something else that you fixed, but you just need to reset your CEL code. Same link above nhas instructions. Worst case after reset? CEL comes on again showing there's still an issue

My CEL goes off and on in a similar way... For now I'm going to chalk it up to the O2 sensors and/or the MAF. After I replace them I'll see if it goes away.

Edit: checking the codes shows left and right O2 sensors

Thats where I was going to start since my car has a used MAF already, maybe that one sucks too!

If I take my car to a mechanic with a specific complaint, lay three grand on the counter and drive off only to discover it's still doing whatever it was that prompted me to take it in, I'd pull a real quick U-turn, if you know what I mean.

So I brought the car back in and it was the MAF, so it was swapped out for another used one for free and no more check engine light! Thnx for the help.
