check eng. light question

I have only owned this svx for a few weeks. I noticed that I can drive the car and then park it, come back and drive it again and the check engine light is on. I then can park it, get out do what I have to do and when I get back in and start the car the check engine light is gone. It happens the same way every time. I was just curious if anyone else had the problem before before I go throwing money at this problem

I used to have this happen, and the reason was because of a bad knock sensor. I would start the car, and the CEL would come on, and then after about 10 minutes of driving, it would go away. After that, If I stopped the car, it would be gone, but someitmes flash on for a second or two. After lettign the car sit for an hour or two, the same thing would happen. If you go to this website:
http://svx-iw.com/ and then click on SVXipedia, and then click on "checking error codes", you can do the diagnostic yourself. It is really simple and quick, and will let you know what is causing your CEL to come on.

The above instructions are assuming you have a 92-95 SVX. If you have a 96-97 SVX you will either need an OBD2 code reader or take a trip to a dealership/garage that has one.
