Anyone ever catch this review of the Legacy 2.5GT...
...in the 7/4/05 edition of Autoweek magazine? This is by far the fastest 0-60mph & 1/4 mile time I've seen for the 5MT 2.5GT in any magazine. Both Car & Driver and Road & Track got around 14.2-14.3.
I realize some of the test results might be hard to read. Autoweek got: 0-60mph 5.23 1/4 mile 13.95 @ 97.5mph Skid pad 0.81g -Chike

they are sleepers.
guy on LGT.com got a stock time of 5.82 0-60 on a G-Tech. with the Cobb AP stage 1 he ripped off one time of 4.85 another at 5.25. this was a 5EAT, too, no other mods.

That's pretty sweet. I've read that you can improve the straight-line acceleration and braking performance in the 2.5GT by stiffening up the suspension and running better tires.
I've been doing some research on several different Subaru models of late. May start test driving this Fall. Things are happening at work... -Chike

i have a copy of Road&Track's Speed magazine where they add springs, sway bars, new tires, and STi brakes to an LGT, and it beat the STi on the skidpad and slalom, and just got 1 foot longer braking from 60. this was on a Limited model with power leather and sunroof, too. no power mods, but acceleration increased .2 sec to 60 from just having better tires. when i get the chance, i'm putting some new pads and SS lines on. i don't think the Brembo's will offer much improvement over stopping power vs. the cost, and will mainly just help with fade. the stock brakes on the LGT are pretty capable - the rear LGT rotors are bigger than the front rotors on the WRX! (although i don't know what size rotors the '06 WRX will be running - they may be beefed up due to the 2.5L engine.)

There was a review from Littleton, CO in there. Ken Ghost Writing again? That is a nice 0-60 for a sedan in this price range. I mean we're not talking C55 AMG here, but for this money I don't think there is much quicker. The G35 sedan costs more and is about the same. As long as it never loses to a ford, I would call it a success for Subaru. Now Alan, go smoke some 18 year old in daddy's new rustang GT.

I've been looking at tires lately. More of a curiosity in case the future 928 needs new tires! I like the Pirelli P Zero but are expensive. At least for me. The Michelins are criminally expensive. A set of PS2's are close to a grand. The Sumitomo HTR Z 2 is a real agressive looking tire and really affordable. I liked the HTR + I had on my SVX. I was never a fan of Goodyear.
