Thawa, I totally agree with you about affecting other drivers - I just don't see how this does it... They are bright - but not nearly as bright as headlights - which we stare at all day long... As far as the reflectors - well, I can give you a darwinian answer there - if you are so stupid - distracted - blind that you don't see a car parked on the side of the road (and your driving on the side of the road) you deserve to plow into the back of my car and have me sue the living sh!t outta you for reckless driving. Another thing to consider is that my license plate is much more reflective than my diffuser.

That said - I appreciate your concern - and I wouldn't e doing this if I thought is would be harmful. If I do put anything back - it will be the reflectors - but they will go on the center mock light - just inside of the reverse lights.

That being said, the car looks incredible now. And this is easily the best modification I've ever done for no money.

I agree with you on the darwin thing, though I'd rather not have to go through having a car damaged . There may also be some situations where even someone paying attention cannot see a car parked if it didnt have those reflectors. I can't think og any off the top of my head but who knows. And while your license plate may or may not be more reflective it's not red, nor are there one on each side.

About the brightness, my friend went on to explain more about brake lighting. Contrast is a more important thing than just brightness. Being able to distinguish between when you're on or off the brakes. If the difference between your lights being on, and you being on the brakes is much smaller now that could easily confuse people.

Also reward glare, the diffuser you took out did dim the lights some. This could've been because without it it caused too much glare into drivers behind you. A light doesn't have to be bright to cause glare mind you. Most US spec headlights produce so much more glare than lights with correct beam patterns, yet the lights are dim in comparison.

I didn't even know brake lights were this complex. And I'm sure there's more to it than this.

When you say put the reflectors back inside the reverse lights you don't mean the actual housing do you? That'd cause them to become white reflectors, whereas in the brake light they are red reflectors.

It certainly does look better, but is it worth it to have messed up your tail lights?

I like it and have already pulled the diffuser from the center brake light. The rest will be done before my car goes back on the road. I've driven behind other SVXs and have to say that with the diffusers in place the amount of light coming from the brake lights is pathetic. Hard to tell they're even on. I want people behind me to say "JESUS CHRIST WTF...." every time I hit the brakes

It's interesting to watch people argue against pulling the diffusers when they haven't actually tried it. Well, maybe interesting is the wrong word. More like typical for this forum.
