The Indy race is actually in Speedway Indiana, outside of Indianapolis.

My guess would be the Southern 500 in Darlington, S.C.

Pikes Peak Hill Climb? Continuous since 1916

As the Indy 500 was not run during both World Wars, is Pikes Peak in fact the oldest continuous?

First:
Good guess Andy, but you did not get it. I am asking for a race. I do not think of a hill climb as a race.

Second:
Yeah, you get a point. Isn't Speedway, Indiana actually surrounded by Indianapolis?
I guess it is like the Vatican in Rome.

HINT: Some SVXers may have competed in the preliminary rounds of this "race".

Now you're changing the rules! Pikes Peak is more a rally race than a hill climb.

No, they still run it, on July 4 at Daytona, only now it's the Nextel/Pepsi Cola/Viagra/McDonald's Happy Meal/Chevy Rock & Roll Racing Extravaganza and Automotive Exposition. Brought to you by Ford Motor Company.

Did I miss anyone?

is it the 12 hours of Sebring?

1950 - Alec Ulmann suggests Sebring Airport as a site for a sports car road race. Sam Collier 6 Hour Memorial race held on December 31 is first racing event ever held at Sebring and the first sports car endurance held in the U.S.
1952 - First 12 Hours of Sebring race held on March 15

Speedway is outside of Indy. I think 10 miles or so.
