Power Steering High Pressure Hose replacement
Has anybody done this ? If so do i need any special tools ? I've got the basic sockets, wrenches etc. Do i need some kind of mega crimping tool ?
http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=346-1 part number is 34610C (top right of the picture) Thanks |

No special tools needed. Just the regular stuff. It is not really complex to do. Good luck.

If you're getting a hose made (like I did) they do use a monster crimping tool. Because you reuse the ends I doubt you'll be able to make more than one replacement without having to buy an actual Subaru OEM part.
I wish I could remember how much it cost to have the hose made.

You mean if i buy the OEM part, it comes with the metal ends with the crimping already done ? that would defenitely make a lot easier.
Also before i go and buy the part and tear into it, the leak is from a hole the size of a pin hole. Is there a way of "patching" it ? Just trying to avoid spending $$ and a bunch of time. Thanks |

If you know of a shop that custom-fabricates hydraulic hose, they may well be able to make you a PS hose for less than you'll spend at Subaru. dcb |

There's no way to patch it. The hose withstands up to 2500psi. Check out the parts here.

I just replaced mine though the dealership parts counter. I don't like to mess around with important hoses.

I also noticed that the hose they used is less restrictive than the OEM hose. (Larger inner diameter)
