Evaporator core temperature sensor

One of my sensors going to my evaporator is bad and causing the a/c not to work. There are two sensors there. The one that is bad has a black connector and is closer to the passenger door. My Subaru dealer says the diagrams in his book cannot distinuish between the two and they are not cheap ($80 and $196). I don't want to buy both. Is anyone able to give me a part number or tell me how to tell the dealer which one I need. My car has been in the shop for 10 days...yuk!!

I have attached a parts diagram of the evaporator unit. This is from a 93 parts book but is probably the same. The 92 diagram is different.
Parts # 13 and 16 are the sensors. It is hard to tell which one is closer to the door. One is closer to the top so maybe you can tell from that.

13 is Pt# 73084 PA020
16 is Pt# 73084 PA040

Hope this can help you figure it out.

Sounds like a fishing expedition to me. They should be able to call the service/support dept. and find out or at least be able to order both and return the wrong part.

The G&* D$$% local Subaru dealer charges 20% higher for parts than others and wants another 20% for return parts as a restocking fee.

Yeah, but it's not your fault that they don't know what to order - they represent the manufacturer, you don't. In other words they are supposed to know what they are doing. If that doesn't straighten them up call the zone manager.
