Sun roof sticking

Hey everyone,
i got my sunroof problem, it needs a push when i try to open it
i ve read the thread bout it, and lubricated with that silicon lubricant thingy, but well its better but still need to push it up
i lubricated that weather strip round the sunroof, and some otha parts but still its sticking, considering the high kms of my 92 SVX... i can suggest the motor needs oil too...so any ideas how to disassemble the sun roof and lubricate the motor or there s some other reason with sticking sunroof...????

thx

I had to clean the track and other parts before it would run properly. The lubricant had become thick and gummy with age and had lots of dirt in it. Once I cleaned everthing and then put the silicone back on, it worked much better. Another thing that some have tried is to tighten the clutch. That might make it work better too, or you will just have to push up on it when you want to open it.

Sticky

I find that when I'm at speed (55 +) it opens fine... It needs a push below that... (and I've cleaned the tracks and the motor.)

I would suggest then that you only open your sun roof at 55+! Mine needs a little boost once in a while too. I will have to test it at speed +.

Try pulsing the button twice and on the 3rd button press you hold it. Seems to work for me if it sticks.

i also have this problem and have learnt to deal with it. a mild push gets it going, it is like the motor is too weak.

Yes, I would like to know how to tighten the clutch also.

Mine was working fine all winter, but when the weather got warmer, it now always sticks.

I noticed that the spring activated locking system (when closed) might double to push the end of the roof open during the opening mode, as part of the mechanism pivots and seems to be high enough to force the roof upward. Perhaps these springs get weak over time, plus with some grit in the track that is hard to get to, could contribute to the sticky openings, or less forceful pushing up of the mechanism.???

My 2 cents!!!!!

That seems to happen with age now doesn't it?

The clutch nut is hiding under the round plastic cover behind the interior light. I haven't adjusted mine yet but from what I've heard it doesn't need to be adjusted much.
