factory alarm

has anyone ever had this problem...i leave the car with the security system turned on,,so the horn honks once..but when i come back to the car..i try to de activate the alarm..and all it does is honk the horn one time again...so i hit the remote button again...and it honks one time and still dosent deactivate, or unlock...usually i do this for about 5 mins...and then it decides to let me in!

Try leaving your neg terminal off your battery overnight. Then, re-set your remote to your system. That may help.

In my (almost 4) years of daily visits to the SVX forums, this is the first time I've heard this particular problem mentioned. Interesting.

I was just thinking what you said. I fully expected to click on the thread and see another complaint of the 'solid security light' problem. In which case, I would have tried to sell him a new security module!

Please. Allow me to translate.

"Unhook your freakin' alarm and run like hell. Your car may be posessed like that whacko "Christine" in the movie of the same name. The dang car could repair its own dents and it killed lots of people. So, RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!"

Ahem. Is that pretty accurate, Alltrac?

Well, don't give up just yet. There's still hope, my young entrepreneur.

I seem to remember something in the manual about the alarm having an unauthorized remote warning feature. Basically, if it detected a code from an unauthorized remote, it would set a code which you could read from the status LED. I don't remember if it also beeped the horn or not.

Something else to try is replacing the battery in the remote.

I'll have to check on that, Kuo, on my nightly visit to the . . . . Library. Yeah, that's it. The library.

(MY wife was concerned when I replaced all my electronics/huntin'/fishin'/things you never new existed catalogues, with my service manuals. )
