My PA Emissions test lasted two years...?

Okay, so I got my 1992 tested December 2010. That means I need to renew my inspection in December 2011. I didn't. I haven't had time or money, and I hardly drive at all during the semester, so I put it off. About two blocks form my parking lot on my way to Walmart, I get pulled over. The cop comes and says "Excuse me sir, but your stickers are expi- oh, wait, no they're not. I saw them from the road, and I thought it said 11/11, but it says 11/12. My apologies!" And drives off. How on earth does my emissions test last from December 2010 to November 2012? I thought I was done for...

You got lucky, inspections are yearly. He mixed up the month/year numbers on the sticker.

That was the only conclusion I could come up with! But the piece of paper in my glove box says "November 30th, 2012." HOW

Its easy to get an extra year if the mechanic puts the stickers together wrong in PA as they have 2 years on them then the month goes on over one of the years.

Not possible in Conn. They are monitored on video and on every stroke of the computer keyboard.

Re: My PA Emissions test lasted two years...?

In PA there is a separate procedure, sticker and license required for safety and emissions. The guy we were referencing lost his emissions but not safety license.

For the emissions OBD testing he would plug the computer into whatever car was closest to the computer. He didn't know (or didn't care) that the vehicle info on his records wouldn't match up with the info that the computer pulled from the vehicle ECU.

Re: My PA Emissions test lasted two years...?

OMG, what a friggin PITA! I used to help a mechanic do inspections in Pittsburgh way back. I left in '93 for Wyoming. We used to only do safety inspections then the emissions came in. All I can say is sorry, man. You live in a police state. At least they're clueless. In Wyoming, we can drive without lights, burning coal or cow sh#%, broken windshield, whatever. Drive at your own risk. It's slowly changing, though. Until recently, we could pull up to a drive-up window for a cocktail. Now, it has to be in a bag.
