Re: Rear Ended: SVX sandwiched

Is there any way you can find out what salvage yard the car is going to?

If it stays in the omaha area, I might be interested in pulling some parts. I would even consider buying the car as a rolling parts donor, if it is cheap enough.

Did the insurance company give you a buy-back price at all?

I'm not sure of the name of it, but I'll get back to you on that. Pretty sure it's in the omaha area. The buy back price from insurance was $900.

Scratch what I mentioned above; the car is located on this site:

https://www.iaai.com/Vehicles/Search...ears=1991-1997

It's the Insurance Auto Auctions.
That's as much as I know for now.

It goes up to auction tomorrow, 11/25/09. The body shop told me you have to register on IAAI's site to bid but that's $200/year. I didn't see a one-time price.
If you/anyone esle buys it let me know.

We know of quite a few SVXes taking serious hits but protecting the occupants.

The SVX is a very good and a very safe car to be driving. That's important for parents. Sure enough it is expensive to maintain and run compared to newer cars and less complex machines, but what price do you put on peace of mind?

I do hope you get another SVX at some point, and best of luck with your college.

Stay in touch.

I was talking with one of my friend's neighbor's who saw my car and told me that he had once had an SVX (many years ago). It flipped on the highway, and was completely totaled, but he made it out without a scratch. Makes me glad to have an SVX.

Re: Rear Ended: SVX sandwiched

I've always told people the svx is a tank. It's very obvious from all the stories; i.e. mine took a decent hit from a large truck but still drove just as it had before, just a bit of body damage

My spirits are lifted again, however, because we have another svx on the way

All in the time span of less than a month we frantically searched and located an ideal svx. Some of you may have seen it in the FS section, we are purchasing member glaze148's silver '92 from NY. It's only a matter of time now.

Glad to hear this story is ending on a good note

One question though. In your original post you said:

(btw, that's not a JDM folding sideview mirror...)
Is that really a JDM part? My car (and every other Subaru I've ever owned) has folding side mirrors...

Some of the 95-99 outbacks have non-folding mirrors.

First off, congrats on another SVX...

My brother in law and I found that last weekend, and I figured the omaha car was yours.

He works for a body/resto shop that works mostly on Vettes, but they deal a lot with the insurance auction.

I asked him and his co-workers to keep an eye out for it. Do you mind letting me know which insurance company you use, and is selling the car at auction?

You can PM me, if you don't want to broadcast it... but the name of the insurance company auctioning the car is all he asked for other than he already knows from this thread, and that auction listing.
