Re: Best & Worst....HAHA SVX is not on the list
How can an Outback sport (a tall impreza), and a WRX (a turbo impreza) be both the best and the worst?

Re: Best & Worst....HAHA SVX is not on the list
Turbo charging tends to shorten the life of an engine, and there are more components to fail. Also they have different incarnations of the H4 I believe, 2.5 and 2.2T I believe? If I had a WRX I would probably whomp on it pretty good.....

Funny because my younger brother has a WRX my Sister inlaw has older Outback Sport, and my mom has a regular Outback. The WRX has been rock solid while the 2 outbacks have both had issues.

Outback Sports are secks.
Maybe the WRX is bad because everyone that gets one destroys their gear box within 30,000 miles. |

Re: Best & Worst....HAHA SVX is not on the list
Subaru's EJ25 used in Legacys (and some Impreza Outbacks) from 1996-2001 or so is one of the most troublesome Subaru engines ever-- prone to failed headgaskets, piston slap, etc. I have a '97 2.5GT that's on it's third EJ25, and a '98 Outback Limited that's on its second. Interestingly, the EJ22, from which the EJ25 (and the EG33) is derived is one of Subaru's BEST most bulletproof engines-- FHI just pushed things a little too far with the EJ25. A popular and easy swap is to take a late '90s Outback, junk the EJ25, and throw in an older EJ22.
