Like a little kid at Christmas

Looks like Santa has been paying attention to all of the stores that have their X-Mas decor in full swing.

The last of the new toys at work showed up today. ~$30,000 well spent

pardon the crappy cell phone pics.

We have two of the small ones and two of the larger ones. By far the best sounding speakers I think I've ever heard. (The same units (the larger one) or ones from the same line were put in at Phantom of the Opera London and a number of other West End / Broadway shows) They're self powered which helps justify $2000+ Price tags. The horn can be rotated for 80x50 degree coverage or 50x80 degrees.

Here's the back panel with the amp.

The matching sub, also self powered

We got 8 of these little buggers. They're cheap, but mostly will be used for practicals in sets and for balcony fills.

Here's the room where everything has been crammed in waiting for the 25th when we can start putting it up.

And the real big toy! It's a Yamaha M7CL-48 digital mixing console. Complete with a nice big touchscreen. It will be such an improvement on our crappy Mackie 24x8.

I spent the day unpacking box after box after box and even though I knew what was in them, it was still super exciting.

Heh, you misunderstand. I work in the live theatre business. I'm head of audio at the Penumbra Theatre Company in St. Paul, MN. This system is for our theatre. The speakers have peak SPL ratings just below or above the 130dB mark (depending on which model). That's a tad much for my basement

I have a nice home theatre, but if I had that kind of money to throw around you can be sure that there would be a Lotus Esprit in my driveway first
