Good luck. I loved my '86 (carb, no FI), dual-range 4x4, oil pan skid plate, Brat white spoke wheels, A/C, cruise, no power anything, all of 90 horsepower. Decent fuel economy, secure at speed (once you got there), and would go anywhere the undercarriage would clear the terrain. Bought new and still running fine (but smoking in sweeping turns) when I let it go in '00 at 212,000 miles. Never needed mechanical, transmission or suspension work; not even a clutch. Vermont road salt did 'er in.

It was a car Subaru should still be making (only this time, with rustproofing). If you run across one in this part of the country, let me know.

I cured that on mine by installing valve cover breathers and plugging the hose that goes to the intake.

The problem was in tight sweeping turns the oil would flow to the outside valve cover and then get sucked up into the intake through the breather. Made for a great smoke screen!

You got that right. That thing could lay-down an amazing cloud. Got to be kind of embarrassing to have somebody following me on a cloverleaf interchange on-or off-ramp.

I loved it - especially when I had friends following me. Of course I had dual exhaust exiting out the sides in front of the rear tires on my little red wagon - so it was quite a show.
Bond, James Bond. Eat my smokescreen.
I actually kind of missed it after I fixed it.

My Monster Loyal did that too with the stock motor, very wierd. Only EA82 that I ever had do that. The EJ22T swap solved that problem thoe
