Code 37 still coming on after O2 sensor replacement

Here's a quick recap:
1. Check Engine light and Code 37 Left O2 sensor light have been coming on for months now. I ignored it in a cavalier manner.
2. Car failed to start Monday. Showed codes 32, 37 and 21 which is both L & R O2 sensor and H20 Temp Sensor.
3. Replaced both 02 sensors. Torqued to 25ft lb.
4. Cleared codes (I think).
5. SVX would not start until 5th try with 10 mashes on the gas pedal.
6. Check engine light came on again. 37 & 21.
7. Retorqued again to be sure. Cleared codes. Test drive. Got check engine light, & code 37. No water sensor this time (I jiggled the wire).
8. Cleared codes. Test drive. Check engine light. Code 37.

The Check engine light and Code 37 still poppin' up.
Anyone had similar experiences and therefore fixes?

Biz

Darn,

It happened again. Check engine and code 37?
Connector is good. What gives?

Anyone had similar experiences when changing O2 sensors?

Nope, just did blue wire trick and disco on the battery.
Same thing.

Crap... Is it possible that having a bad o2 on left side for so long altered engine chemistry... ie one side ran lean and the other did not? Maybe I have a buildup of stuff on the left side that will take some time to clear out.

Can anyone recommend an engine cleaner (internal) or whether to use one at all?

I have installed a brand new O2 sensor and it was bad!
It was one of those save a buck and splice it into the original harness types. I removed it, took it back to Auto Zone and exchanged it for the Bosch plug and play. No problems since.

Well, I bought the second least expensive Walker units from o2 sensors .com. Probably should have tested them on the ohm meter before install. (duh).

OEM 3 Walker $69.50 Monday 250-23083
OEM 3 Denso $98.99 Tuesday 234-3083
OEM 3 Bosch $97.99 Tuesday 13419
Universal 3 Walker $45.90 Monday 250-23000
Universal 3 Bosch $61.99 Tuesday 15726

Tested the two old ones and sure nuff one is toast. No impedence.

I read somewhere here that a dude's dad had cleaned them by hand. Might give it a shot, so I have two spares.
Anywho... we'll see if check engine lights up tomorrow.
I discoed the battery for 12 hours. We'll see.

We cleaned the third O2 sensor on Chi ke's car a month ago with brake cleaner, and his light has not come on since.

Check this out too. Light came on 10 minutes into my 40 mile commute today and stayed on the whole time.

Torrential downpour for the 40 mile commute home. No light.
Coincidence?
