No prob.

Like you, wheels were kinda low on my winter mod list. Ended up getting the RX-7 rims & tires only b/c I came across a sweet deal which I couldn't pass up! Performance/handling mods are definitely higher on my list of priorities...

BTW, you can find one of those fender rollers on Ebay for much less than $250. Most people just buy it, use it once and sell it immediately.

ok well they have got a set there that are 8.5 with 45mm offset. This means I have a wheel 19mm wider on each side. Will it clear the strut housing and the fender? or is it too tight?

Tom

P.S. i can't go check cuz im at school so can anyone else check? You need to have stock wheels though. Anyone who has an aftermarket wheel with different dimensions will throw me off

45mm offset with a 8.5 should work...you'd have to be careful with how much camber you run

You may have to run a little -ve camber just to give things a little margin of error (-ve camber will improve handling though).

Thnx for the agreements i feel they would have suited the car nicely
255 / 35 / 18 is the widest tires I've seen on our cars. Check out this thread:

http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=20916

8 inch wide +49 offset

Chike, I'm sure the mazda 6 agrees with the fender lip roller but the svx does not have a circular fender opening. I heard you can roll fenders with a baseball bat. Just place it in between the tire and fender, have someone sit in the trunk to simulate body roll and roll the car back and forth till you get the desired results. Lots cheaper than a one time use tool, if done properly.

ok, i just found out the origonal wheel is 16x7.5 55+mm offset

This changes everything. The 8.5 inch 45+mm offset will come 3 mm closer to strut and hang 23 mm out further than the stock wheel. So anyone w/ stock wheels go outside and measure how much clearance there is from the inner rear quarter to the edge of the wheel(not including the tire). Thnx for doing this

I made up a formula a while ago, but hadn't got to posting it. Here are the limitiations of the formula:

1) The formula only determines whether or not the wheels will rub on the fender lip.

2) The formula assumes that the tires are square with the rims (i.e., the proper size tire is being used for the rim).

3) There is no "buffer". If you calculate the clearance to be zero, then there is a very good chance the wheels will rub.

4) There may be some variation from car-to-car as earthworm said.

5) The formula may say that some 7.0" wide rims with low offset values may fit, but keep in mind that low offset rims may can reduce braking and cornering performance.

clearance = 2.2 - (rimwidth/2 - offset/25.4)

The rim width should be in inches, and the offset should be in mm. The clearance value is in inches.

If "clearance" is greater than 0, the wheel should fit if the proper size tire is used.

well with this formula in use the 8.5 inch rim with 45mm off set puts me -.278346456 inches. I think if i crushed in the inner lip they would fit with no camber udjustments. does that sounds about right?

Got this formula by looking at the clearance with my wheels and what other people had done. I'm running about -1.2 deg neg camber at the rear and -0.8 deg at the front. I think you'll definitely have to flare the fenders or somehow trim the fender liner if you want those wheels to fit. What tires were you thinking of running?

hey tom

for what its worth i run 265/35 18x8's with a 38mm offset (rear only) and my my05 sti has 265/30 19x8.5's with a 55mm offset, i could try the sti wheel on the svx to see how they fit.

they would probly fit perfect cuz the offset it the same as stock. Not to mention Subaru is using the SVX hub on the STI nowadays

Tom,

Mychailo was referring to the 'size' of tire you were thinking of using on those wheels...

well its official, i am not getting wheels yet. Since my pirellis and my wheels are still new from this past summer i will be waiting until I need new ones to get them. My focus will be on repairs this winter until summer rolls around. Then I will be investing my time into the body work needed. Also, hopefully i can get a new trans so that when i do decide to purchase and install the stage 2 kit, my first pull wont decimate the box. I now know what wheels will fit and what won't so i appreciate all your guys help in finding that out. Ill cya at reading!!
