Rockercovergasket oil leaks
Have anyone tried a cheaper fix for oil leaks from rockercovergaskets and rockercoverboltwashers ?
Been wondering if a thin metal washer added under the bolt head on top of the washer would the enough to stop the leaks. What happens is that the rubber gets old and flat, so the pressure is not sufficent to keep the oil in its place, but if you increase the pressure with a thin washer it should be enough to seal it. |

If you're going through that much effort to add the washers then you may as well change the gaskets as well.

Sure
But i just thought of making a cheap fix till i got new parts from USA.
By adding a washer to each bolt ( or i saw someone mention a "Beavfix" or something about a o-ring in some posting here somewhere) one by one you would not need to take the rockercover off. But i guess i could let it drip for a while. I know some RTVsilicone on the washers, and to add some silicone into the grooves where the rubber rockercovergaskets go would be enough, it worked well with my Impreza 2.0GT 1996 that i have home in Norway, when i had to put together a engine after i blew the engine i got, used some parts from my blown engine and most from a 1998 engine i got from a wrecked car in Sweden, which had outer damages.
