moving to LA!

Okay, so I'm about to move to LA, to start grad school at UCLA. Apart from finding an apartment and all the usual moving stuff, I of course need to do one very very important thing: find a good shop for the SVX!

I get the feeling that SVXes are pretty rare around LA, which makes me a little worried about taking it to a local shop, dealer or otherwise, without a recommendation. So if any LA SVX owners can recommend a place that knows our cars and does good work, please let me know!

Thanks,
kmin.

A little drive...

www.subyspecialties.com

They are out in Monrovia, but WELL WORTH IT!!

Steve knows more than GOD about Subaru's and I had my '98 Forester TOWED 90 miles across 2 counties to have him do the work. He's NOT cheap, but he's the BEST!!

Don, well he worked with Subaru engine development, so I'd say he knows his Scooby cars too. If I were in SoCal still, that's where SViXen would be going for maintenance.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the rat race!!

svx repair...

I've never used them, but someone on here mentioned
Subaru Independent Svc Auto
(818) 765-4566 6666 Lankershim Blvd
North Hollywood, CA Map

I live in Long beach (15-20 min south of LA) and I always take mine to Timmons Subaru in Long Beach. They seem to get more SVX's than other dealers in the area, and unlike some dealers they don't cringe when I drive up or call and say "I have an SVX."

Hope this helps.

Yeah...

The shop Jeremy posted is definitely another good one. It's unofficially recommended by one of the big cheese's at Subaru (Regional Fixed Operations Director)...

Hey, I just graduated UCSC and am also moving to LA in a few weeks. We should meet up for a cruise or a beer sometime.
