Air conditioning work

Can anyone direct me to a site with a good explaination of how AC systems work and the names of the components?

I have work to do and once I have someone evacuate the system I won't have long to work on it. I have a leak somewhere under the dash and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay someone $1000+ to fix it.

This will be the least amount of fun I've had with he SVX to date.
