Need Help w/ 4.44 gears
hey I've never posted before, but I've done a lot of work to my '92 LS-L since I bought it last december and I'll have pics up as soon as I get the car back from the shop. Yeah thats right the trans. shop. My front diff. decided that it was its turn to be replaced, so while its out I'm going to change the gears; I've decided on 4.44's (if anyone has experience with them just give me a heads up). I need to replace my ring and pinion so I need help locating a decent price on that and the gears and matching rear diff. Thanks for any help that ya'll give me. Yes i'm from South Carolina and I'm a southern boy...lol.
Sorry about the size of the picture. PM if you want Last edited by GrahamG92LSL; 11-02-2004 at 09:58 PM. |

Ouch! That pinion gear looks like toast!
If you want 4.44 gears, the person to talk to is svxfiles. He's the grand-daddy of 4.44 gears. The most straight forward way to switch to 4.44 gears is to swap in a nice low-mileage used trans and matching rear diff. The '96-'98 Legacy Outbacks came with a 4.44 geared transmission and rear diff that'll be a good match. Large junkyards will have these parts in abundance, and you could probably pick up a complete set for ~$500-$600. Good luck! -Chike

Thanks man I appreciate it. I've done a lot to my car including rebuilding the trans. like 7 months ago and now the most reputable shop in town is trying to weezle their way out of covering it under warranty...Lets just say that they decided to mess with the wrong person with the right passion for his beloved SVX!!!!
