stage 2

how much would the stage 2 chip and maf cost.....will it work good with a CAI....sorry total newb my dad is handing down the svx to me and im wanting to modify it

To reiterate another post somewhere in this thread, it won't work on a 96 or 97 (OBDII) SVX.
So unfortunately, no, not ECUTune.

But there is another place that sells their own version which is older and much more expensive. Be damned if I can find a link.

The company is the Powerchip Group, headquartered in Australia. There have been a number of threads that mentioned this chip, but I don't think there has been a definitive evaluation. They calim they can boost the horsepweor of the SVX to 250. Here is a link to their pdf brochure for the SVX

POwerchip looks like easy HP but the fine print says that it's a license, not a purchase so you can't resell it like a Cobb unit, etc.

Think 20 hp could be noticible? The worst think abou our cars is the flat, dead torque in the midrange, say from 2800-3800-takes forever to start screaming.

Unfortunately for OBDII cars, that dead spot in mid-range is exactly what Ecutune fixes. You can look at the torque curve on earlier threads. That's why it is so popular with us OBDI guys. You could ask powerchip for their torque curves and compare them with those from Ecutune Stage 1 and Stage 2 to see if it would fill in that flat spot. You still might have the MAF limitation at high RPM's, however, especially if you have a 5MT or 6MT

I always thought that the flat spot in the torque curve represented a sort of "no mans' land" between the high efficiency of the engine with the IRIS valve shut at lower rpm and the high efficiency of the engine with the IRIS valve open at high rpm.

Someone should try getting a dyno run with the IRIS valve fixed shut and another dyno run with the valve fixed open. Would be interesting to see the difference in the dyno plots.

Maybe some of the dead spot feeling is from the IRIS system changeover, but as this chart shows, Ecutune provides much better torque at 2500 to 4000 rpm. Those of us who have the Stagge 1 or 2 chip can really vouch for the increased responsiveness of the engine in mid-range.

WOW!

I've always wanted to revive a forgotten thread, and thought my comments would fit in here nicely.

I installed my 2v7f setup yesterday (thank you YourConfused), and it feels like...WOW! All the way home I just kept saying that. Just "WOW!" over and over again. The install was kind of a PITA, due to leaking o-rings on just about every connection for the fuel rail (rings on the injectors worked out great with a little petroleum jelly). We'd get Humpty-Dumpty all put back together, turn the key and: squirt. I can't imagine there's a way to remove the stock injectors without taking off the rail, so that's just something to keep in mind in future installs. Have a whole bunch of random o-rings on hand for anything that comes up.

Aside from my mechanical ignorance, and installation troubles, this mod is the best thing I've ever done for a car. It starts up strong, idles around 1k in P or N, dropping to 800 in gear, then after warmup idle is totally normal. Power seems to be much stronger in the 2500-3500 range (where I really need it) and keeps going up. Have yet to hook up a switch for E85, but I'm going to give it a couple tanks of premium to break it in first.

A big thank you to LAN and everyone who gave feedback on earlier versions. I know it was a long road to get here and I'm grateful for all the folks who helped make this chip what it is today. My SVX Rocks!
