Some information

My emails to "Polk Leeds" and "phImpetus" bounced, but I have just received a nice reply from Neil Bell at Experian:

Quote:
The data I have access to only relates to current vehicle parc (vehicles in operation). In terms of models named SVX the current figure is 224.
I can't identify any Subaru two axle rigid body imports. This may be due to the level of information I have access to and/or the level of information held by DVLA (information is generally not very detailed for grey imports, as you may expect).

In terms of numbers originally sold, a better source of this would be the SMMT (www.smmt.co.uk).

Sorry not to have more info but I hope this is helpful.
I have passed on our thanks to Neil for his help.

That's very interesting Paddles. This implies the only South American market was Brazil. I think we have a member or two in Brazil. They might be able to approach the local importer and find out what number was originally imported. This would be useful info. We would have accurate infromation for the whole of America.

The European countries are more or less as expected, but Israel and Thailand are a bit of a surprise.

And Ireland is notable by it's absence.

This is good solid info, Phil.

Did you ever find out if your system of query using the first four characters of the VIN would be workable? Or if they would do such a database query for us?

Joe

The VIN is not included in the data that DVLA sell to these agents. I have no doubt that it would be the best way to find the information if someone at DVLA would help us.

I'm very surprised that there are still 224 SVXes active in the UK, especially since there were only 289 (?) originally. Most of them would be early cars which are now 14 years old.

He is giving you data based on the SVX model name.

Is it not likely then that the figure he has given will include grey imports? When they are registered, they have to register a name or model code, do they not?

Joe

You're probably right. I had assumed that the data in the DVLA database would match the cars logbook. Maybe they do record the model code even though they don't print it on the logbook.

I Really Started Something !

This thread is running well ! Happy to help towards any costs associated with vehicle searches etc. In this day and age you would think that non person or vehicle data would be available. Be good to see what the searches throw up but shame the DVLA pass the buck as they keep all the data after all and as was pointed out only limited chassis number detail is needed !

Cheers guys, David

Re: Svx Production Numbers Etc

This is an old thread, but a lot of the information collected here is important in relation to SVX world wide markets.

Enclosed with this post is a new document detailing SVX numbers registered in different countries.

It's possible this thread should be in the SVX Registration forum. It would be interesting if members could fill in the missing information positions regarding some of the SVX export countries. Please respond if you know any information.

Smile Re: Svx Production Numbers Etc

Hello to everyone I am new to the subaru-svx.net site (not really new, have been browsing the site from time to time but didn't get round to reply on one of the topics). Prob. you may remember one of the micra blue SVX (fresh import) being sold on ebay some 2+ years ago ... I won and have 2+ years very interesting driving experience with the car
I live in Chester, Cheshire so if anyone lives close let me know we may see each other on the road. Actually I remember seeing a silver one near Warrington area 2 years ago in summer.

Cheers!

Re: Svx Production Numbers Etc

Hi There!

Nice to have you as a new member. You are very welcome.

I'm based in Ireland myself, but I have often stopped in Chester on my way through, a charming town.

One of our members Darren is based in Chester, if you send him a Private Message you might be able to meet up. Have not heard from him in over a year though, but I think he is still an SVX owner.

In fact one of my cars used to belong to Darren's Dad, this one:

Is your car the blue one with the black roof? N948 reg #? Is it advertised in Car and Classic?

If so it looks a really nice car. My one above is an S40. Yours is an S3. Your one looks to be in a very well cared for condition.

Check out the thread about the JAE show. CLICK HERE If you can attend it will be a lovely place to show off your SVX.

Joe

Re: Svx Production Numbers Etc

Yes Joe you are right it's (black top blue body) the one, and thanks for the information. I shall try to contact Darren and see if he is available for a meet up - very rarely 2 SVX meet up

Life is too short and owning a SVX is a must to enjoy good motoring experience. Personally I don't think SVX is particularly fast but fast enough to p**s some big Range Rover off from bullying other road users on motorway.... (you know what I mean) and probably they don't know what they are dealing with...

Yes you are right again the one you saw on the advert is mine... due to relocation I will have to travel further to work daily and the fuel cost will be more.... also have a baby boy so I have a boring 4 door saloon (a Lexus ES300 import) for the family. Trying to downsize if possible

About the annual JAE meeting is it down south this year?

Cheers

Frank

Eeehhh, down South? That depends which part of Scotland you are in Frank.

This year it is being held in Wicksteed Park, which is in Kettering, Northants. That's not too far away for you, mate, just drive around Brum, and you're there!!

I hope you can make it. There has never been a blue SVX at any meeting yet.

Joe

Re: Svx Production Numbers Etc

Good to see this thread resurface. I just looked at my numbers and this is what I have:

USA 14,257
Canada 942
Europe 2,478
Germany 854
Japan 5,951

others 518

World Wide 25,000

Right Hand Drive 7,000

The others would be from other countries that you have mentioned before but not on the list.
