My cars transmission just failed a couple weeks ago and seeing as I can't afford to fix it I'm parting it out. you guys know what parts are on this car, the car is complete so just message me with what you want. I will ship smaller stuff.

Re: parting out silver '92

it only has 140,000 miles, the engine runs perfectly. grey interior is in good condition. I would much rather sell these parts than see them all go get crushed at a junk yard.

You should fix your transmission.

Re: parting out silver '92

What should I do? I bought this car under the impression that it was a 1995, so I got ripped off by the ***** who sold me the car. Longassname told me that even if he gave me a deal on a rebuilt transmission, it was still going to cost me over $3500 because of the damn freight charges.

and it seems like there isn't a single user on this forum who lives in southern California, every one of these cars lives on the East coast or in the middle of the country.

If there is anyone in the southern half of the state of California that has a good working transmission they're willing to sell to me, I would much rather fix this car than sell it.

I live in Irvine. I don't have a transmission or the means to replace one, but you'd be a damn fool to part it out just because of a transmission failure.

Re: parting out silver '92

I didn't mean to scare you off on a 4.44 swap. Check car-parts.com to see if there are any available in your area.
What to look for:
[96-97-& Early 98 Legacy Outback/Legacy GT/Legacy LSI/Forester/Impreza 2.5 RS with 4EAT automatic transmission, and 2.5 engine.
Get the transmission that DOES NOT HAVE the spin on transmission filter located on the drivers side, behind the bellhousing, above the left front corner of the transmission oil pan.
(The 4.44s are from any 2.5 4EAT equipped Legacy GT, Legacy Outback, Legacy LSI, Legacy GT LTD., Legacy Outback LTD., Impreza 2.5 RS, and Forester)]

Re: parting out silver '92

You didn't scare me off bwb3, honestly I've been using car-part.com a lot to try to find parts for not just my car, but my moms, so I do greatly appreciate that advice, and I think the 4.44 swap will actually be the route I take until I can afford a rebuilt original from ECUtune, then the process of restoring the car to "off the factory floor" condition.

This really happened at the worst time, we just pulled a bunch of stuff out of storage so our garage is a huge mess, so I've been really frustrated because I'm not even able to start to pull my transmission out until I can clean up the garage, but I don't have time for that because of school. It's a vicious circle, I'll find time eventually haha

I really love my SVX, I named her Stella she's just being a *****. I'm sorry for bringing my frustration onto the forums, that definitely wasn't called for.

you are absolutely right haha, I don't know what I was thinking. I've realized that I would do just about anything to get her back on the road again.

Re: parting out silver '92

While I was going to hit you up for your secondary fuel sending unit, I agree with the other members here: I would encourage you to repair/replace the transmission. Hit up Budfreak on the "other forum" about a 4.44 replacement. I got mine for a very fair price and it showed up in my driveway in a very timely manner (note: I know he's on this forum somewhere but I don't know what he goes by). The swap wasn't that big of a deal and, if you have a cherry picker, we figured out you can remove and replace the engine and transmission hooked together. Would be a good chance to strip it down and reseal everything.

Best of luck with your restoration!

Regarding the What to look for, I do believe you did say that. I save every good tid bit of information on this forum I find.
Saxman, you can send the check to svxfiles. Now, back to my vodka and milk.

Re: parting out silver '92

Just to clarify, Any Legacy LSi has a 4.11 gear ratio. It is the only EJ25 phase 1 without 4.44 gears.
And I will point this out, I recently got ahold of a 99 Forester transmission that was still a phase 1. Likely not going to happen on the west coast as things got slightly screwy relating to the northeast US region market. (most notably getting SUS's early that also have phase 1 4eats)
