NO CEL w/ key on and no spark?
Just looking for additional opinions.
The Claret was out on its shakedown run with the new engine in, and all of a sudden shut off, and cranks, pumps fuel, but will not start. When I turn the key to "on" the CEL is NOT illuminated as it should be. -I checked the loop connector at the right rear of the intake manifold and it has a clean mating surface and the wire is attached firmly. I am going to swap in a different ECU to check, but due to the fact that the car is about two hours away from home right now, I was looking to see what other's suggestions are, as it is difficult for me to go back and forth checking one item at a time.

I guess you checked the timing belt?

cranks fine (doesnt sound like belt jumped) sounds like its in time ok. ill pull the covers when i see the car on Tuesday or Wednesday. I installed the belt, new idlers etc on the motor before putting it in and cams and all were aligned 100% and the car was running well when it suddenly cut off.

Dave, the weird part is that when he turns the key to on, the CEL does not come on at all?!
And this is just after driving the car... Wiskey Tango... What, when disconnected/ungrounded/unpowered, shorted, causes the CEL not to light?

You discovered Melis's TPS came unplugged that one time that her's wouldn't start.

ECU and Ignitor tested in another car and came through ok. I will try checking and then swapping the wiring on the intake manifold.

As far as things causing the CEL not to light I have;
1) The CEL light is burned out. Not very likely. 2) The connectors at the ECU are not COMPLETELY plugged in. 3) Under the hood, probably where he changed engines are four main electrical junctions, on the passenger side, above the bell housing. The top square one closer to the passenger fender will allow the engine to crank without starting, and not allow the CEL to come on. Not starting is one thing, the missing CEL is another. If you do have to spend some time under your dashboard at least you will have more room than some of us. Are you going to finish that?

Checked plug at rear of engine. Changed engine harness on intake and cleaned/greased ALL connections. Still stumped.

Can you figure out anything more thru the service manual?
PS: the car is having emotion, doesn't want to leave him.

This might sound kind of stupid, bit did you check all your fuses and relays?

Pulled all fuses, and everything looked ok.

I've seen fuses that look good, but are blown. Check them all with a meter.
Do you have another ECU you can swap?
