Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
Thanks Joe. Yeah Jay my mom absolutely hates them too, so we just dont tell her about riding. When I crashed my IT490 in high school, I ended up in the hospital for a bit and she went through the roof, crying and the whole bit. I felt really really bad for her after she explained what she went thru back then. Now when I ride, I ride like an old lady . And if I DO ever run from the cops, it will be after jumping from the bike lol

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
Mine is my primary mode of transport year round.
I will ride down to 25 dry, and 35 wet.

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
I always ride like an old lady. My favorite speed on the bike is around 40mph. Then again, when it's cold, 40mph feels very fast.

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
I was talways told to be responsibal for the consequences of my actions. From this video, I see that going in both directions.
If the MC rider did something bad enough, he could deserve to have deadly force used against him and he deserves the hit. At the same time the LEO has to be willing to take the responsability for using deadly force if the guy was running from a speeding ticket.

I'm going to be the callous one here and say the cop did not hit the biker. He did position himself in front of the bike as it was moving, however, he also did stop a nano-moment before the impact and the biker did not do much to evade the car that had been coming directly at him for a good +100ft.
My initial reaction was shock, but after watching it a few times, I have no sympathy at all especially considering he does not appear to be injured.

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
"Since he did not appear to be injured"? Ok, so a cop is coming after me, and I start shooting at him. Unfortuantly I've been drinking, and miss him entirely. They're ok with that since I didn't hurt the officer, right? No harm, no foul?

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
i'm sure a flame war will ensue, but it really doesn't matter what he did when he decided to run he put innocent people's lives at risk, as well as the lives of the officers. i feel no pity for him what so ever. you do the crime you do the time. if your gonna run from the police they are going to try to stop you. i'm not saying this wasn't a little over kill, i'm sure he didn't expect them to react that way, but you don't expect the cops to just let you speed away.

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
ok, read the rules of the road, red and blue mean pull over, or they will attempt to pull you over using any means neccisary, you may get away if you run, but you may get hurt if you do. besides innocent people don't run.

Re: How to pull over a motorcyclist
And they also have been known to call off chases when the threat to life has been too great to warrant further endangerment to the public..... including the suspect (innocent until proven guilty). Barring a murder warrant, deadly force is not used in pursuits unless the lives of officers are in imminent danger. The officer knew the outcome of his decision before he pulled directly in the path of the motorcyclist, its just lucky the guy had dumb luck and was alright. Wish we knew what he did though....
