Wow Sparkley! :d

Absolutely gorgeous!!! wow... excellent job!!! I love it! I think if I were to do it I'd probably coat it afterwards with a dark gunmetal black metal paint of some sort to better match my engine cover like tom did when he painted his black. Very pretty! Would you perhaps like to partake in doing a few more? maybe at least one for a nominal fee?? for all your hard and heart filled work? I'd totally love for you to do this on mine when I go to build the beast...

could any of those candy concentrates be used to paint the manifold after it's been polished??? how do those work.... what can you use them on.. I'm really curious....

its alot of work
I used a buffing wheel when I did mine a while back
still took about 3 hours total...
You do have to keep it polished about once a month though.

If they chrome it, they nearly have to polish it and smooth
out out first anyway, and if you chrome it it holds in the heat
more, not such a good idea for the $.

Polishing is much better if you want the look anyway.

How would you go about brightening it back to stock? Can it be done by buffing or will it require repainting it?

Could you have it powder coated in clear? That'd preserve the polished look without the PITA of nekkid aluminium.

There's another source for true chrome looking spray paint. Alclad, it's designed for plastic.

Buy some Duro Aluminum Jelly Cleaner and Brightener. It as a thin jelly-like product that you brush on and let sit. It rinses off with water.

I have been using it for years and it works great. I brush it on with a small brush in a thick layer. I also use a stiff,brass-bristled brush to clean the crevices (Brass does not leave black marks on the aluminum) Scrub the manifold to loosen any dirt and grime and just rinse off with clean water. Leaves the finish bright and clean, removing oxidation and "white rust", like it left the factory.

You can repeat this again if you want. you can get this at ACE hardware for $4.99. The item no. is (01-80270)

Is there some types of engine dressing on the manifold to get it this shiny and new looking?

k who's engine is that ^ is is n/a??? how well does that intake system work? Is it running on a stand alone, cause there's no MAF? and that looks really effective because it's going right in straight from the scoop into the intake manifold.... is it decieving? or is that really like a super good system and if so why don't more people use it?? and that's not a tmic right?? cause it doesn't necessarily look like one entirely...I don't know though because I'm still new with this stuff...

Find the thread titled "285 WHP", it's a recent one, so just hit new posts and you'll see it. He's running a standalone, milled heads, custom cams, and a few other things, but FI and is claiming 285 WHP. The engine is in an Impreza.

Nothing more exotic than silver paint from a spray can. I watched it get painted myself.

I just now realized that I mispelled the word "polished" in the thread title. Consider me embarassed.

Thanks again for the comments. I was talking to a buddy of mine who just painted some wheels for me, and he suggested that I get some sort of anodized coating for it as well. I dunno know, I think I prefer the look of just plain old polished aluminum. Also, Dayle, I do like how yours turned out, but I'm glad I took out the ridges on mine. It's just..."different."
