Unhappy

You have obviously been screwed over by the previous owner, who opted for the "standard" display package. But, you're in luck. I'm willing to swap you even up on the "custom" USA package that is far more prestigious than the junk you're stuck with. Just send your Alcyone stuff to me, Ron at Ripimoff Industries, PO Box 666, Kabul, Afghanistan, & I'll exchange your inferior trim for genuine USA parts.
Be sure to include $327.00 shipping & handling charges.
Glad to be of service. It's the least I could do.

Ron.

You are in AU. That makes sense. All SVXes world wide will come come with JDM Package from my understanding. We have US package. All the people(well most of us are) from the US are dying to get the JDM parts. If you want the regular US parts, let me know. I'll give you mine and I'll take yours off your hand.

But welcome to the network.

You have a JDM model sold new in Japan and then imported into either Australia or NZ as a 'used import'. Only the JDM models have the Alcyone badging as standard and only the JDM Version L has the "very troublesome and very, very expensive to fix" 4WS.

The Version L was only made in 1991 and 1992 with less than 1000 being made. Because of their expensive price and the troublesome 4WS, Subaru Japan had a very difficult time selling them. Even after 4 minor SVX model changes thru till 1997, there were still stocks of the 91/92 Version L and the last one was finally sold in 1996. Most were sold to FHI employees at huge discounts.

FYI

Just on the issues of what version AU got, it was
AWD,
leather,
sunroof,
same bonnet badge and rear light panel as the US entrepreneurs trying to rip poor FREESTYLER off!! ,
no seat heaters,
no front light washers,
no heated or retractable side mirrors,
no front foglights,
no interior based headlight adjustment lever next to the gearshift

and I just found out that the front grill was the same from 1992 to 1997! ie, the 1997 was not body coloured.

Guess what I need to order!

Uh... that's for leveling the headlight. I need the headlight that goes with that. I don't really care for the switch -- for the HID conversion project.

The CD stacker was an option here but I have only ever seen 2 SVX's with it...most sellers (assuming they are 2nd or subsequent owners) are gobsmacked when I tell them what the funny box space in the carpet is for!

Paddles, correct me if I am wrong, but from being in Soarers and Skylines, I think the doors autolock at 15kph or above.

And on the theme of things locking at speeds, I think the McLaren will not allow the windows to be retracted down above 200kph.....I think something to do with pressure blowouts in the cabin if one drops the window to flick a cigarette butt (bad!!) at 390kph
