So far (3k miles) I haven't rubbed on them. They work perfectly, and I have the advantage of the lower profile sidewall, so the gearing is slightly more aggresive than with a 50 series.

I am runing DMS Struts that lift the car about 2 in was thinking of changing to Koni but spoke to them today and they suggested instead I need to make some Mods to the DMS. They feel that the flogging and distance I travel mean that my struts get a worst time then rally ones. A rally car does a couple of 100 k between services. I tarvel 20-30,000 k . I think the height will help.

Oh, yeah I forgot that you were running them. If you have an extra 2" of strut height, I don't think you'll need to worry about hitting the fender???

Okay just tried the tyres and they look "Interesting" to say the least. If this all works out the SVX will be 4in higher then standard. Here are the shots of the tyre fitted front and back. The back inspite of looking bad is less of a problem then the front.

Looks bloody interesting, but even with the 2" extra height from the struts, do your tyres foul the fender? They look as if they might do. I mentioned the RVR as in my signature below. The 2.0 model with the turbo comes with a bigger tyre size. They use 215/70/16, I checked the spec. I don't know if they use a stiffened sidewall, but it does mean that this size may be available to you. I think you are filling the fenders because of using 235 size. With the traction control the SVX has, 215 would be perfectly adequate and should fit the wheel wells. Your fronts look like you need to "roll" the arches to get clearance. Joe

Joe I can't get the Kevlar side walls on any smaller tyre size, would love them to make 215's. Also some times you drive over rock as big as shoe boxs and you need every bit of clearance you can get. I am sure the back will be okay. the front is a problem because you have to turn the wheel which then hits the back of the wheel well.

I figured that was the story Tony.
I have an idea that might give you some comfort clearance. Remove the plastic inner shield from the wheel-arch. I bought a small Japanese coupe, and somebody had fitted larger than optimum tyres. They ground against the plastic arch liners when on lock, eventually grinding through the plastic, and making a racket while grinding as well! Be careful though that you keep the air intake covered, you don't need sand in there. To protect your arches you might consider using a building product. There is a very nice bitumen covered flashing that will stick and mould to any shape. This will give you great clearance at the back of the wheel. The front metallized part is lead coloured or like tungsten grey. It is super stuff. If you can find it at a builders' supplier store, it might give you the clearance you need. Joe

I don't know the trade name Tony. I call it self-adhesive flashing. It comes in rolls about 10" wide.
It would protect the rear of your wheel arch from stones and muck while giving you the best clearance. it could be more problematic fitting to the front of the arch, but you don't know till you try. If you check with a big builders supplier, they will know what you mean. Joe

Great idea!
OR you could remove the plastic and SPRAY on some truck bed liner. Subaru sprayed on asphault based costings, as well as plastic coatings at the factory.

That sounds good too Tom.
Tony's best bet may be to remove the front and the rear of the plastic liner, and hopefully leave the upper one in place. From my own experience most rubbing happens on lock, to the front and rear plastic. If you could cut the front plastic narrower than standard, then find a way of fitting and securing* it farther forward in the arch, that will probably stop the worst of the rubbing. * It will need securing. Wind from road speed will blow it back otherwise. At the back, there is no room to move back with the plastic. He may be better removing that part, and protecting with the flashing or the spray you mention. Joe

The other option is use a spacer on the fronts. I used to run them on the front end of my Duster, the wheels would hit when I turned and when there was alot of compression of the suspension (stock 215 width 15" diam, aftermarket 235width, 18"diam)

Problem the back inside of the tyre hits the trailing link pivot point at the front of the wheel. It looks like I will have to put in a spacer to move the wheel out. Given the size of the tyre and wheel I need to keep this as little as possiable second choice is to get new rims. I think is I find out the amount needed then I might be able to look at my options then.
