92 SVX Parting out

1992 Subaru SVX. Has 159,00 miles. Vehicle does not run because it needs an alternator. When I jump start the vehicle, it drives and handles like a dream. Cosmetically this car is autrocious (including spray paint vandelism). Selling whole (for at least $1500) or part out. Engine is good. Recently rebuilt transmission. All glass intact (except one piece now). I can install the glass in your car for an additional charge (yes, even the windshield).

Whatever parts you need, I will attempt to remove them--may need help with engine and tranmission--thanks!

Delivery is available

Location: Dumont, CO

I say we all throw in a few bucks and raffle it off at Reading 9. Then whoever put in to buy it can get in the raffle for it automatically and others can get in if they buy the ticket??

I need a new rear Main seal, but a new engine is easier.

and the Whole Car with the need of an alternator and Paint is a better deal.

Is the whole car still available?

WTH is going on here.... parting out a perfectly running car for a dead alternator. It looks like he is more determined to get rid of it by parting out rather than getting a new alternator. If thats the case for any svx, then almost 70% of the n/w members should be parting out their cars for a dent on the body, bad bearings, bad alternator, bad P/S pump, bad window switches....

This is just silly.... some one offer him a fix up/used alternator. I never heard of this kind of people... Here we are tryin to restore as many svxes as we can and here comes who wants to demolish a good one.

-Pavan.

Pavan read my post farther up, if we get enough people to chip in, say like $25-50 each, then we can have it raffled off at reading next year

Yeh I read it, but come on it will cost him not more than $140 for a new remanufactured alternator. I can't believe that he is in such a position where he can't even invest $140 to maintian his car. Replacing is soo easy on our cars and you dont even need any mechanic. If its something like tranny, parting out is reasonably ok if he is in such a position. But, come on....

Very true about not needing a mechanic. Anybody can swap out an alternator in maybe 30mins with a 14mm socket. Maybe he just doesn't like SVXx despite their unique features and rarity?

...spray paint comes right off...Rubbing compound usually gets it...of not that, then a little 1500 grit sand paper and buff it back will get damn near anything off

Even more disgusting than the fact he is willing to part it out is the fact people actually inquire about parts (read: "Selling whole") When they can easilly get the parts elsewhere..like HERE, where the car is actually unrepairable

I really do hope you can sell the car whole. Running and driving, it should be worth the 1500$ Have any pictures of the car and it's "atrocious" body?
