Transmission Problem???

I was out driving today and I went to pass a car...but when I pressed the gas pedal all the way down my car only down shifted to about 3500 rpms. So I released the pedal and tried again to see if it was because I was at a higher speed, but it did it no matter how fast I was going it always downshifted to 3500. Is this a transmission problem, or is this a normal downshift for a SVX....I dont remember it downshifting so low when I accelerated before. Please Help!

how fast were you going when you floored it?

about 35 mph

when i floor it going 35 mine downshifts into first which is probably around 4k rpms i'm guessing.. since it shifts out of first at 6.5k at about 46 mph if i'm remembering correctly. somewhere around there.

I was reading in an earlier post that had a similar problem. If iy was the O 2 sensors...wouldnt a check engine light be on?

Actually at 35mph it will not let you downshift to 1st. If you slow to 30mph then floor it you will get 1st gear and pushed back in your seat

30-40mph in 2nd gear was always a dead spot with the SVX 4EAT. That's one of the reasons I went 5MT.
