i want to be listed on one of those lists. but i have the norm. i dont want to start an agruement but should i go with the 4.44 and lay down some hot rubber or the 4.11 and get the best of both worlds. i think the faster take off the better the run. is the 4.44 to much torque for take off speed? sell me.

i haven't tried the 4.44 yet but i'm quite happy about the 4.11's (level10 and my tranny shop made a great package). i'm sure the 4.44's are even better launches but i can get alittle smoke from the tires with the a/c on

Question

Hey everyone, Im new to the network as well as modding my SVX. Could anyone tell me what the differance between 4.44 and 4.11 gears is? And how would I go about putting them in my "Burgundy Beast"? Is it a at home job? thanks

Welcome to the hell of tranny talk. J/K
Welcome to the site and ownership. The 4.11 or 4.44 is more prefrence that anything else. 4.44 will have a better launch than the 4.11 but the 4.11 will have better top end. With the roads that are in Maryland you might like the 4.44 better.

To do this mod is pretty easy. LMAO!!!

1st find a tranny with the correct gear ratio you want.
4.44 in most Legacy's
4.11 in most Impreza's and Legacy 2.5GT
2nd get the matching rear gears.
3rd swap the tranny and rear gears.
Most of the time the rear gears are swapped not just replacing the rear diff. you want to keep the LSD.
4th have fun driving

That is the short of it. Cost will be $750 and up
The more you spend on the tranny the better it should last.

Steve

Thanks Chike. yeah i am really loving the shifts and acceleration and pickup. but i still need to study it and learn more about it, before i drive it normally like i do on my stock tranny.

Got a doubt now... do we still have "POWER" mode?

Here r the finidngs

70mph - 2750 rpm
80mph - 3000 rpm
90mph - 3250 rpm (around)

so wht do u guys think on these figures?

-Pavan.

3000 engine rpm=4322.7665 driveshaft rpm divided by 4.4444444 gears =972.62255 axle rpm with 24.86" tall tires is 71.933472 actual mph.

Sounds like your speedometer is a little optomistic, or your tires are worn.

Drive it on the highway at 60 mph exactly,Where you can safely do so, and have a buddy time with a stopwatch the mile markers as you go by. If they average every 60 seconds, the speedometer is accurate, if it takes more, or less time, the speedometer, or the mile markers is/are off. And it's not usually the markers. Tom.

Hi Tom,

I forget to talk about this when i called you. Anyway i figured out tht the speedo is little bit high, since when i was goin at above 55mph (shown on speedometer) on a road, but the radar display showed only 51mph. So I think there is something messy going on with my speedo or sensor. BTW my wheels are not aligned yet, and my steering is still off by 180 degrees.

So wht do you think of these findings?

thanks,
-Pavan

Nope. Any SVX running modified 4.11/4.44 gears will work. Do you and Benebob have 4.11's in the racer at this time?
