Dos Problemos, pleaso helpo meo
Ok, first problem is slightly in relation to a problem I'd had before, which was that the car, when shifted into 3rd gear, would have a pausing motion, meaning that it almost felt like it was braking ever second or so. Now, that's gone, and it just sits in idle when it's in 3rd, and when I push the gas, it revs to 3000 rpm before realizing it should go and engaging. However, the most recent development is that at low speeds, usually in 1st gear, if I let off of the gas it does the same thing, only it seems more severe since, I'm already going slow, so it almost stops me. It does the same thing in reverse as well.
The other problem is that turning normally is fine, however, turning tighter produces a clicking noise, that speeds up the further I turn. Any ideas? I did the o ring thing about a year ago, and about 3 months ago had a leak in the power steering return hose fixed. Any ideas? |

I would say you may want to check your CV Joints. I had the same clicking noise when the CV Joints in my CRX went out. Just take a look at your CV Boot and see if there are any holes or craks in it. If so it is more then likely your prob.

As for RPM issue, your tranny is most likely dying and you might want to start saving up on $$$$ The clicking is from your CV. That's cheaper than your tranny. Good luck Lwin

Hmm, that's not good about the tranny, considering I just got it rebuilt for $4k about 3000 miles ago...

Is your rebuild under warranty? I hope you just need adjustments. I read once that what you describe about braking is an adjustment issue. Good luck

I had heard that too, hopefully that is the case, just a brake band adjustment or something.

I'd start by checking the transmission fluid level. Any leaks since the rebuild?
Besides, if you just had the rebuild, I'd have it checked by your rebuilder, and have them fix it. It's got to still be under warranty. VK Quote:

I got a quote from Liberty Subaru in NJ for about $2800 on a remanufactured tranny. How does that sound?

That sound fair. Actually, $2800 is on the lower end of the "quote scale".
Right, Aredubjay?? VK |
