Re: <$100 Mods

The drop in filter just goes in place of the stock air filter... its not a cone or anything like that. instead of a Fram or other brand air filter, you get K&N or the sti one. hence "drop in"

i suppose ur right, optima = spendy
i think i got redtop on sale at kragen for 89.99
someone mentioned that the off brand sealed cell units were cheaper too....
same thing just not optima name

Re: <$100 Mods

I work at a furniture store and have access to the threaded inserts mentioned in the droopy visor thread. I'll have to check how many I have and what size they are, but I suppose if anyone needed one or two and I have the right sized ones (after I fix my stubborn visor first of course ) I could probably send them in the mail. Again, let me stress that I have to check on what I have first, but seeing how this board has already helped me IMMENSELY, I could see this as a way for me to give a little back.

Also, I saw it was mentioned, but I saw no detailed description of the resonator mod. Am I missing something?

Baffle plates inside the resonator sometimes come loose and vibrate. They tend to rattle or fizzle at about 1900 - 2000 rpm. It is annoying because it makes it sound like the car is falling apart, which is not true.

The cheap fix is remove [cut out] the resonator and replace [weld in] with a length of straight through pipe.

This changes the sound quality from the exhaust. To my ears it makes a flat hard blare and is hard to like.

Others think the SVX is too quiet, and they like the different sound.

You pays your money.

In Aus:
- Your own modified unit posted back to you is sub A$100.
- Turnaround is approx 3 weeks.

Ex Aus:
- Modified unit easily comes to less than US$75, however shipping costs will vary, possibly taking the total over US$100.
- Turnaround time is in the order of months due to surface mail.
- Kit form to be worked out soon if we can track down a better light source that requires less modification.

Re: <$100 Mods

I painted the fake light lens in the middle as opposed to lighting it up. It may be just me but I think it looks good. Just an idea. Also... Those headlights are stock and they aren't yellowed I'm kinda lucky cause I get to use our shops tools but we bought the 3m kit with the buffer + polisher. Although I think you could accomplish the same thing with the right combination of sandpaper and polishing cloth.
