Wow, that was a heck of a smack. Is the other car the one that hit you? Looks like it took a good bit of damage.

Re: This is bad for my car

Quarter damage is no fun on an SVX, been there, done that. Mine was hit much harder than yours and had been packed with Bondo before I got it.

Pretty much replaced the entire passenger's side of my car, mine is pearl white and my parts car was black:

Did you ever completely finish your SVX? I liked what you were doing with it, but I never saw any pictures of the finished product, which would really make my day

Customer cars and our shop projects have been getting in the way, so it hasn't progressed to paint yet. It is going to be two toned, dark charcoal grey on the top and green on the bottom, not the factory green, more like the lighter green they put on Aston Martins.

I've been trying to get some cheap RX8 wheels for it and a few other things.

Re: This is bad for my car

The color combo you want to attempt is interesting, wonder how it looks at the end. I have never seen it on a car before.

I advise you to photoshop it first along with the RX8 wheels.

What would be the fun in that? I'd rather do stuff more impulsively, if I plan too much and over think it, just isn't as much fun. Most of the modifications I have done so far have had very little planning or thought behind them. I just started doing them with a rough idea of what I wanted and cut and welded and fiberglassed and shaped it until it looked good. If you think too much, it gets in the way of the artistic side of it. Custom body work on a car is not engineering, it is art.

We recently ran into a situation where we over thought something and it bit us in the ass. We are doing a 1986 Chevy S10 Blazer as an advertisement vehicle, something to show off our skills at shows and cruises. We chopped the roof 4 inches, no easy task and something that is never done, so we had to figure it out for ourselves. We thought so much about the perfect places to cut and the angles and everything, when we started tacking the roof back on, we hated the way it looked. So we had to cut it back off and just start improvising and worked with it until it looked good.

I can visualize the colors well enough, better than you could achieve in Photoshop because I can see the pearls and metallics in my mind, something that is hard to replicate in Photoshop.

Re: This is bad for my car

Sounds like it will be great, and I'm glad you'll be keeping it 2-tone.

They are either the expensive ($1000+) original DeltaSpeed skirts from Japan or Dayle's exact copy for $475.00 HERE

They are from Dayle. Shipped all the way and paintet here.
They fit perfectly.

There is an insurens guy that has to inspect the car before it can be fixed. If the repair costs are too high they will call it total and just pay. I should be able to make an arrangement were I still can get it to rebuild.

I will know more next week.

I really lose street credit when I drive it looking like that.
