Ruddy O Ring - Dimensions

Today I replaced the steering pump reservoir O ring in my SVX and went to the trouble of getting one from Subaru rather than purchasing an assortment from an auto parts outlet. I wanted to be sure I had the right one as It can be a bummer to have pulled things to bits and the car out of action then to find the part on hand is not correct.

In order to assist others who may purchase other than an OE part and wish to confirm they have the correct item here are the dimensions:-

Outside diameter, 15 mm.
Inside Diameter, 11 mm.
Thickness, 2 mm.

It would be worthwhile for someone who has editing powers, to add these dimensions to the text on the O ring in the Ò How to " Locker.

Footnote:- A test drive indicates that the growling noise ( my wife's definition ) coming from the pump relief valve, no doubt caused by it chattering due to air in the system, has been put to rest.

Trevor,
Many thanks for that information. I'll add it to the how-to.

I need to check and see I have one with the correct dimentions for mine. I have several left over when I bought an assortment for another project. I replaced the one in my first car close to three years ago with an OE, and it's ready to be replaced again. Actually, I didn't replace the one 3 years ago. I installed it. When I pulled the reservoir, there was no evidence of an O-ring ever being there.

The area around where the o ring was replaced is leaking again. Randy - could you come and show me how to do it again? I have the o ring and some extra fluid. Let me know when you can come over.
Really - it is leaking, and I will have to do the o ring agian I guess. Oh well, I guess you did pretend to put it in instead of really doing it.

Well, Mr. Hinkley,
My sincerest apologies. Like my grandpa used to say, "If you try and do something fast, you end up doing it half fast." (say it out loud, and you'll understand )

I should be able to make it over in . . . say . . . 2006.

<slinks away and removes o-ring from his pocket that he palmed during the demo>

I thought Randy was doing something funny with his hands during the demo...

Randy's hands was in his pockets at one point, but I thought he was just relieving his jock itch...
