Which Subaru AT Filter kit?

I bought the tranny filter kit a few years ago. It was part number 31099AA370. There are a few threads that say 31099AA091, another filter kit was purchased and installed. Anyone know the difference? Subaruparts lists both but 31099AA370 is listed as the SVX filter kit and it requires a VIN to order.

The "70" part number was probably for ordering under the "Program." The higher number is probably the number for outright retail or non-program installation. That's just my guess. Anyone else?

The one that I bought was PT#31099AA091.I didn't need a Vin# but since I know the parts person it probably did not matter

My guess: what is the part # for the Legacy?

FYI

The filter kit "091" is for a Legacy, but it works fine on all SVX models. The "070" is a so-called recall filter for '92 SVX models. Only 1 "070" filter can be installed on the SVX and it can only be put on the by a dealer because it is a warranty/recall issue. A parts person can order one by calling SOA with the VIN. SOA keeps records of which SVX's have had this filter installed, so you cannot order another one.

I hope this helps,

how about if you want to replace the filter element in the recall filter kit? is there a part # for that? or does it even need to be replaced ? you would think after 10 years it would.

You have to replace the entire unit. But, at around 10 bucks, it's not bad. I'd recommend changing it at the same time you change your T-belt, which is scheduled at 60K, but due to the CA law that mandates T-Belts last 'til 100K, I change my T-belts at 90K. Of course, there are aftermarket kits that use the replaceable filters if you'd rather install one of those.
