Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

Wow it looks amazing! I hope someone who knows more on the matter will check to see if it would fit.. Do you think it would?

(Would I be able to close the "don't steal me" door?

Same here. I have the older DVD based Avic and it fits perfectly.

Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

Wow, that price is a steal. I just installed the AVIC-DVD unit this weekend. Fits fine, door closes etc. The only catch to this unit is that the screen on GPS units is disabled over 5mph. The DVD unit is much simpler to bypass the parking break switch, but these GPS units can be a pain to hack.

Look for my install writeup later, I've got to unload the pics from my camera.

Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

i could install a double DIN in my LGT, but i'd need a JDM adapter, and would need another JDM adapter to relocate the temp/mpg/time display thingy - which would probably cost as much, if not more than the headunit.

Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

all pioneers have a trick. haha. i have a AVIC-D3 in mine and it was actually hard as HECK to bypass. I got it when it had only been out for like 2 weeks and not one person could exactly tell me how to do it. luckily we figured it out. haha.

Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

My AVIC-D1 was easy to bypass. I had to add a pin to the harness and ground it. Very simple.

Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

Also there is a major sale on all CDT speakers which are of a very high quality. I bought three sets so far, two for the Z and one for the SVX (fronts). Very nice prices on excellent quality 6.5"

I bought two sets of these for $130 a set (MORE special price discount): http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4596

And one set of these at $100:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=5207

These guys are highly recommended and these sets are not to be missed! Call and ask for Julian if anyone is interested...

I also bought a slightly used Eclipse AVN6600 HU for $350 shipped to ME
Idea of its price brand new (http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6080)

Re: cheap Pioneer AVIC double DIN Nav unit

I havent tried their coaxial line, but it seems to be constructed of the same materials and similar design to the classic component series. I imagine they should be pretty good.
