Question FWD 5spd swap

well as it turns out my 94 L went through it's second transmission

and although i've been trying to get a rebuilt one, the price is...well a little crazy

so, i looked at the kit from smallcar and it's cheaper then the 4EAT and it got me thinking....ive wanted to do a 5spd swap so why not now, however, im only FWD and im not sure if that kit would work.

i called and asked and the owner (im guessing) and he said that all they have to do is cap off the rear where the rear driveshaft comes out....is that a safe move? would there be any problems?

any help would be greatful

p.s. has anyone had any trouble with that company's transmission?

Re: FWD 5spd swap

Unless you have a real desire to stay FWD, swapping to an AWD 5MT should be just about as much work as swapping to a FWD 5MT. All you have to do is swap in the rear diff, drive shaft and rear axles, IIRC. Which, in the grand scheme of doing a 5MT swap to begin with, isn't all that much more work.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... I've never been under a FWD SVX.

Entire rear subframe needs to be switched out... But after that its just diff, axles, and driveshaft

FWD on the right, AWD on the left
