Can't get crank pully off
I want to re time the engine, slipped, but I can't loosen the crank bolt, I think it's a '"lefty loosy". (I ve tried both ways) maybe heat? Any suggestions?

Ya, holding the engine is a pain. I almost ran myself over with the 6-speed. Put it in 1st without the e-brake on.

I put a pipe on my breaker bar, and put it on the crank bolt with the handle pointed to the floor just under the battery, and let the pipe go down to touch the floor, then crank the motor over with the key, pops it right loose.
I've never had any trouble using this method, but use at you're own risk.

I had the same problem and had to use a heavy duty strap wrench attached to a breaker bar to hold the engine steady. And a 750ftlb impact gun to loosen it. My engine was out of the car so youd probably have to remove the radiator and condensor to do the same.

Thats a little dangerous. Could break a tooth off or damage the starter. Also if he accidently puts it on the wrong side of the car, the bar will smash into his body. Thats one I know I would end up doing. |

I always think about using Huck's method but whenever I get down to it it seems complicated so I get a breaker bar/pipe and a hammer and I karate the thing loose. Takes one good swing. (:

I used a strap wrench and a 1/2" ratchet with the handle of my floor jack over it. Whacked the jack handle with a rubber mallet a few times and the bolt came right out. I also sprayed the bolt with liquid wrench and let it sit for a while. I did the cam bolts the same way.
